Lesson notes here

Class conclusion : Watching school scenes we have become aware of various teaching methods that all question our relationship with norms, institutions and most importantly ourselves and the way others see us. We believe schools gather all the different layers of socialisation.

Teamwork:

1 – What kind of school is the scene set in? (private, public, privileged / under-privileged, well-equiped, uniforms ?)

2 – What is the lesson about?

3 – How would you qualify the teacher’s method?

4- How do the students respond?

5- What could be the consequence for the teacher / students in the long run?

Dead Poets Society ( 1989 ) by Peter Weir

Whiplash, (2014) by Damien Chazelle.

Freedom Writers (2007) , Richard LaGravenese.

School of Rock (2003), Richard Linklater.

The Wire  (S3 Tv series – 2002) by D. Simmons.
